Way Too Long, Finally !

It's been way too long since the last Jeff Lynne/ELO (Electric Light Orchestra) album. The Music Gods and Muses have finally tapped Jeff on the shoulder and said come on give the music world a break from the Justin Biebers, Niki Minaj and Miley Cyrus pap they call talent now. Friday November 13th saw the long awaited release of Alone in the Universe.

I have not personally bought an entire album in forever but I did pre-order this one, after all this was Jeff Lynne , no such thing as a bad Jeff Lynne song. I was not in anyway disappointed by the decision. It's per platinum all the way through, My Lynne does not disappoint and it is like he has never passed a year since he last gifted the ears. The 15 year old in me cheered and bounced around with excitement  like time stood still . Such a pleasure too is seeing him in the different venues, talk shows and what sharing his talents. Wonderful! Applause !  Thank you Mr. Lynne and Mr. Richard Tandy!

Remembering my parents

Remembering my parents on this day. They were married on this date in 1961. That they are now together in the heavens.

A friend on Facebook shared this recipe and I wanted to save it some where . It sounds like an awesome salad for summer with some grilled chicken of fish.

Brussels Sprout Salad with Warm Vinaigrette

For maximum efficiency, slice the Brussels sprouts while the shallot mixture cools. A food processor fitted with a slicing blade can be used to slice the Brussels sprouts but the resulting salad will be slightly less tender.

5 tablespoons white wine vinegar

1 tablespoon whole grain mustard

1 teaspoon sugar

Salt and pepper

1 shallot, halved through root end and sliced thin crosswise

¼ cup dried apricots, chopped

5 tablespoons vegetable oil

1/3 cup shelled pistachios, chopped

1 ½ pounds Brussels sprouts, trimmed, halved and sliced thin

1 ½ ounces (1 ½ cups) watercress, chopped

4 ounces ricotta salata, shaved into thin strips using vegetable peeler

1. Whisk vinegar, mustard, sugar and ¼ teaspoon salt together in bowl. Add shallot and apricots, cover tightly with plastic wrap, and microwave until steaming, 30 to 60 seconds. Let cool to room temperature, about 15 minutes.

2. Heat oil in 12-inch skillet over medium heat until shimmering. Add pistachios and cook, stirring frequently, until pistachios are golden brown, 1 to 2 minutes. Off heat, whisk in shallot mixture. Add Brussels sprouts to skillet and toss with tongs until dressing is evenly distributed and sprouts darken slightly, 1 to 2 minutes. Transfer to serving bowl. Add watercress and ricotta salata, and toss to combine. Season with salt and pepper to taste, and serve immediately.

Springing Forward.

Bulldog Hood Ornaments,Anchors and Vintage Atomic Style Jewelry

The fun of vintage items to me is the hunt. My friend decided he wanted a Mack Bulldog Hood ornament. So the hunt began and there are many available but the prices are crazy and wide ranged. Some were vintage a lot were not.Finally after some time located first the large one and then another smaller one. After some consideration he chose the smaller one which will have the glowing eyes when he restores it. So it is quite possible the larger Bulldog will go into the shop in the near future. Because of this hunt I know more then I ever needed to know about the Mack Bulldogs.

Finally into March hoping that the weather sees a better turn very soon. We are close to reaching the all time record for the most amount of snow , might as well do it now.

Small weather rant ..Possible Shipping Delays.New Items

I can hardly believe we are having another round of snow through this weekend. At this point what's another foot or two of snow?
Feeling a bit stir crazy with the weather ? I was really happy to be adding this pretty spring green brooch to the shop. Maybe the groundhog could be right this year.

There's a reminder too that St. Patrick's Day is not far off and if you want to be wearing a bit o' the green this sparkly brooch would be a lovely addition to your wardrobe.

Nothing Special

The week began with yet another foot of snow. Everything was pretty much closed down again on Monday.  It is a big pain in the butt.
Has slowed down getting orders out to customers because even the post office was closed during this crazy weather.

Now off the weather came across this online this morning. Very cool to watch.

Additional Insult of more snow..

All the snow we have had early in the week is now going to be joined by more at the end of this week.

We are hearing in the news that there will be an additional 6- 8 inches of snow between Friday and Saturday. Crazy , not much for a winter then WHAM!
